Welcome to Restoran Bakut Soon Kee, a gem nestled in the heart of Simpang Rengam, Johor. This quaint Chinese restaurant specializes in Bak Kut Teh (肉骨茶), a traditional Malaysian dish that has captivated locals and visitors alike with its rich flavors and heartwarming aromas.

As you step into the restaurant, you are greeted by a clean, cozy atmosphere that invites you to sit back and indulge in some authentic cuisine. The friendly staff adds to the welcoming vibe, making it feel like a home away from home. Whether you're an early bird or a late riser, the restaurant opens its doors at 8 AM, serving up its delightful offerings with a promise to cater to your breakfast cravings.

The star of the menu, without a doubt, is the famous Clay Pot Charcoal Bak Kut Teh, prepared in a way that showcases the delicate balance between the herbal notes and the savory depth of the broth — slightly sweeter than the KL style, making it a unique experience for your palate. The dark sauce braised pork knuckle is another must-try, wrapping each bite in a glossy, flavorful coating that nods to the skillful mastery of the chefs.

For those looking to complement their dish, stir-fried cabbage with ikan bilis is surprisingly delightful, proving to be more than just a side, with its umami flavor that perfectly balances the richness of the meat dishes. And don't forget to dip the crispy you tiao into your soup—a perfect way to soak in all the delicious flavors in every bite.

However, like any dining experience, Restoran Bakut Soon Kee has its quirks. Customers have noted a few pesky flies, which could detract from an otherwise enjoyable meal. Still, the overwhelmingly positive reviews reflect a consensus that the food far exceeds this minor inconvenience. As one guest expressed, this is perhaps the “Best Bak Kut Teh in Johor,” making it worth the small detour off the busy North-South Highway.

Your culinary adventure at Restoran Bakut Soon Kee promises warm meals and satisfied bellies. So, gather your friends or family and make your way to this culinary haven for an unforgettable feast. With offerings that will make any food lover's heart race, it’s truly a delightful spot that embodies the rich culture and flavors of Johor’s Chinese community.

Loved the dark sauce braised pork knuckle. Their famous clay port charcoal bak kut teh is also delicious. Surprisingly the stir fried cabbage with ikan bilis is also very tasty. A good place to go for a nice bkt dish. One thing to note is there are heaps of flies.

Visited this Bak Ku Teh (肉骨茶) restaurant as it was one of the favourite eateries recommended by several reviewers on YouTube. Depending on what’s your preference. The soup is not too herbal (KL style) nor peppery (SG style). It is a bit on the sweeter side. Personally prefer stronger taste.

Best Bak kut teh in johor. If driving along north south highway, this stop is the nearest detour from the main highway. The you tiao is exceptionally good. The ribs are very very delicious. Have to try again for the other pork dishes..

We enjoyed it . Happy we took a small detour to stop and try. Don’t like being charged for extra soup but ho-hum… $50.50 for this lot.

Happened to passes by Simpang Renggam and have breakfast at Restoran Bakut Soon Kee. This store is more of clear soup based, and pork rib is tendery soft. Taste is not a strong herbal nor peppery type. Youtiao is crispy, too. If you ask me to compare with those in JB, this is much more home cooked. People who have stronger taste bugs will not like this.
